A Lake Winnipeg destination for more than 100 years, this resort town 45 kilometres north of Winnipeg off Hwy. 8 was so popular in the early 19th century, it was serviced by as many as 13 trains a day.
Commuting fathers arrived each Friday on the Daddy Train to join their families for the weekend, and couples took the Moonlight Special to spend evenings dancing and romancing at a pavilion near the beach. |
